  • The Minerva's Garden is the first botanical garden in Europe. It is located in the heart of the historic center of Salerno, set between the river Fusandola and the ancient walls of the city, at the foot of the hill Bonadies. The garden terrace is a testament to the work of Matthew Silvatico, a distinguished physician of the School of Medicine and an expert on the medicinal plants. The Gardens, owned by the family Silvatico already in the twelfth century, are currently assigned to the City and divided into terraces with a funzionalissimo water distribution system. Of great interest is the scale of the seventeenth century, built on the ancient walls. The staircase connects the various terraces from which you can admire the harbor and the old town, enjoying breathtaking views of the city of Salerno. Entry is permitted from 10.00 am to 13.30 pm (Tuesday - Sunday). Closed on Mondays. Ticket costs 2 euro, 1 euro for school groups, university students, tourist groups (minimum 25 guests); visitors under the age of 12 years. Annual subscription € 15.00
